One of the things I love Cypress is because it has it’s fair share of eclectic dining venues that have good food.Murdoch’s is one of these places. When you enter you are greeted by it’s brand of funky decor. The bar/ order station is really cool and the staff informative and super friendly. You can either peruse the menu at the bar, or grab a menu and find a table. My husband and I chose option A.
The burger menu can be a little overwhelming. Murdoch’s has several signature burgers, but also have a build your own burger. That was the choice of my husband. He ordered his burger with bacon, cheese, avocado, tomato and mayo. The friendly barman apologized and informed us tomatoes were not available that day. When I inquired why tomatoes were not available, I was informed they only use locally sourced ingredients. That answer was music to my ears. I have my own garden but frequent local Farmer’s Markets when I need additional items.
After hearing the locally sourced answer I decided to try Murdoch’s veggie party salad. This salad has pretty much everything in it except the kitchen sink. It starts with a big pile of spring mix lettuce., diced green onion, pickled red onion, bacon bits, jack cheese, feta cheese, and pecans. The choice of dressings are pepperbomb ranch,, BBQ ranch, or balsamic vinaigrette. For an additional cost you can add chicken, shrimp, vegan sausage, or when available smoked meat, or steak.
We had a kind of long wait. After about 20 minutes we were buzzed that our food was ready. They have an outdoor window where you pick up your food. My husband’s burger was huge. The meat was well seasoned, the add on choices not small. This big burger was enveloped by a pretzel bun that did not fall apart when eating the juicy burger. The fries were definitely of theĀ steak fry variety. Hand cut; they were perfectly seasoned and fried.
My salad came out and was served in 20oz. mixing bowl. Like my husband’s burger, the added ingredients n the salad were not skimpy. The pepperbomb ranch was very tasty, but too spicy for my palate. The window staff were very understanding and promptly replaced the dressing for a balsamic vinaigrette.
Overall we loved the atmosphere, the staff was spot on, the food great. It is also very family friendly. The back area has a playground, and lots of room for the kiddos to run. If you have not given this place a try, I would defiantly urge you to go and give this gem a try.
