I had a very happy surprise when I walked into Market Street Cafe on Saturday. As I have stated before I previously lived in town. I had many favorite restaurants. One of my favorites was The Hobbit Cafe. Not only was it cool because it was a tribute to the J.R. Tolkien novels, but it was in a funky dunk old home, but also the food was amazing.
My husband and I found this place by chance. It was across the street from the Tomball Farmer’s Market and randomly we had parked right in front of the restaurant. After shopping like maniacs at the farmer’s market we were hungry. Happy coincidence we didn’t have to look far.
Upon entering the Market Street Cafe you are greeted by a restaurant that is modern, but has kept the attributes of it’s original structure. A very welcoming space. We were greeted and seated promptly. We ordered our drinks and started to peruse our menus. Upon looking at the menu I was struck by a certain familiarity. Our waitperson was spot on and took our orders promptly. My hubby ordered the bacon cheeseburger. I ordered the protein platter with a scoop of chicken salad. I had only seen that particular selection on one other menu The Hobbit. I being curious by nature asked our waitperson if there was any connection. It was amazing when she said yes, same owners! One of my all time favorites was near, even though I now live in the burbs!
Our food arrived and it was not disappointing. My husband’s burger was cooked perfectly and the fries so flavorful. My chicken salad just as I remembered, So delicious, and a very large portion. I actually took half home and enjoyed it a second time for dinner that evening.
Another happy surprise was when one of the owner’s came out to meet my husband and myself. What an amazing lady. We talked on length, what a happy bout of karma. She asked if she could bring us a surprise. Why in the world would I say no? She brought us an appetizer of shrimp rolls. It was similar to a Crab Rangoon, but with shrimp and phyllo dough The sweet Thai sauce a perfect compliment.. They were amazing.
After a goodbye hug and very full bellies, my husband and headed home. I definitely recommend this restaurant, you like myself will leave full and happy.
