As I am always looking for new restaurants in Cypress/ Cy – Fair area, I do not try to ambush them during the first month plus after opening. They need time to work out the kinks. Tito’s Cantina is indeed a really good addition to our area.
My faithful table mate and I decided to try lunch and decide for ourselves if we would suggest the restaurant to our community.
Typical of any Tex – Mex restaurant we were brought chips and salsa. The chips were light and crispy and well salted. The standout however was the salsa. Typically when visiting a Tex – Mex restaurant the creamy green salsa is mild, the red salsa spicier. Well Tito’s Cantina flipped the switch. The creamy green sauce had a background of Serrano pepper. You did not get the heat until it hit the back of your throat. This being said, the salsa had great layers of flavor. The red salsa was very savory with rich flavors. The only thing that could have been better is if the red salsa was served warm. My table mate stated she would visit again just for the salsa. Great start.
So we moved on to our lunch selections. My table mate selected Al Pastor tacos. These are my favorite tacos ever. Being my friend had claimed my favorite taco, I chose my second favorite green chili enchiladas. We both chose in addition to rice, el charro beans. Our lunch arrived promptly. My table mates tacos looked delicious. They were slightly non traditional. Usually the pork is stewed with pineapple, spices, and is topped with fresh onion and cilantro. Tito’s Cantina had the onion and cilantro stewed with the pork. The corn tortillas were handmade. She absolutely loved them. My lunch selection was also a hit. The enchiladas were stuffed with chicken. The green chili sauce had the perfect amount of spice. The Mexican cheese on top could have been a little more plentiful . The only odd element was the el charro beans. This selection is usually pinto beans made into a soup of sorts. Ours arrived as black beans. They tasted delicious, for me a tasty deviation.
Overall, I would recommend you give this restaurant a try. Both my table mate and myself found it totally worthy.
