Carl’s Bar-B-Q. I have to admit I am not a big BBQ fan. However; my husband is a huge fan. So, we found ourselves, on that side of Cy – Fair and we were hungry for lunch. What a better time to give this this long standing restaurant a try?
I have to say I have heard mixed reviews on this restaurant. This review will probably not be different. When you walk in the decor is very standardized for a BBQ joint. The menu is displayed on a very large blackboard. Both my husband and I chose the one meat plate. The hubs chose the brisket plate. He chose his two sides as the mac and cheese as well as coleslaw. I chose the ribs, potato salad, and coleslaw.
Our order was delivered in a timely fashion. My husband was thrilled with his brisket. He described it as melt in your mouth delicious. His sides however were very generic. As you can tell, the hubs loves pickles. My ribs were beef ribs, and although tasty, had quite a bit of grizzle. I was very fond of the potato salad, but also found the coleslaw quite pedestrian. The BBQ sauce was fine, but not special. All in all, I can somewhat justify why this restaurant has been a fixture for so long in the Cy – Fair area. However, for a $30 dollar lunch I would have liked to see something more impressive.
