The Cypress area is growing fast! There are new homes being built and sold almost quicker then you can blink an eye. I am very pleased to see the local food scene grow and change to find a sampling of all types of cuisines.
Local Table I would categorize is some what global cuisine. They have a very diverse menu. Upon my first visit four of my neighbors which whom themselves are quite the foodies. One couple had been to Local Table multiple times and raved about the restaurant. The other couple, as well as my husband and myself were newbies.
We began our culinary journey with two different appetizers. My husband loves spinach and artichoke dip. Local Tables selection is served and is served with tortilla chips, pico de gallo, and signature tzatziki sauce. let’s just say this appetizer did not last long on our table. The second appetizer was the cast iron fire roasted brussel sprouts, served with a sweet chili sauce. Again, this also was gone pronto. So then we were on to the entrees. My husband and I usually share, but because we were trying to get a full menu experience,. I ordered the Gyro Plate with hand cut fries. It is served with signature tzatziki sauce, I was so excited when my plate reached our table. The gyro meat was grilled and crisp, not flaccid like other restaurants I have reviewed. The tzatziki sauce was tasty and refreshing. The stand out however was the jalapeno hummus.
The hummus was a perfect blend of spicy, but too spicy. The hummus was smooth and I honestly I could have eaten that hummus as my entire entree.
My husband tried the lemon pasta. It is pasta tossed with lemon zest, olive oil, capers, crushed red pepper, and sun dried tomatoes. I tell you if my husband could have licked the bowl and not looked like a neanderthal he seriously would have.
One of our couple table mates chose the Margherita Pizza on a cauliflower crust. To my knowledge I have not been to another restaurant that had that option available. The pizza comes topped with-mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, arugula , and basil pesto. They were however disappointed when their pizza arrived on a regular crust. The waitperson was very apologetic left the wrong pizza on the table, and was back very quickly to replaced the pizza with the correct crust. They absolutely loved their selection.
Our other couple table mates chose to share the Mediterranean Salmon. It comes with guacamole, sweet pea tricolor quinoa, feta, french green beans, and warm pita. They loved their dish and were very happy they had decided to share being was a whole pizza left on the table.I think they liked the pizza more than their original choice.
The one suggestion I would be is to make reservations. Although this restaurant is new, it has become very popular very quickly. If you just walk in you could be in for quite a wait.
