The last four years my husband and myself have seen this restaurant go through many changes. Not only decor, but name and menu changes.
The first name was Antonia’s, which served traditional Italian cuisine. After some difficulty the owner/chef had to re-brand and changed the name to Azul Seafood Tapas. The concept was not well received, and my husband and I decided not to go back to the restaurant. After several months of dedicated regulars not frequenting the restaurant, Azul Italian Kitchen emerged. Upon the change, my husband and I decided to give the restaurant another try. The name change is what we had hoped for, a return to the traditional Italian cuisine that had endeared us in the first place. Azul has an amazing express lunch menu that includes house salad, garlic bread sticks, and a choice of 10 entrees for $7.99. The lunch special is from Monday thru Saturday. What a great deal! My husbands favorite is the Chicken Rigatoni Molise. It is a delicious blend of chicken, broccoli, mushrooms, spinach, and chopped tomatoes in a garlic wine sauce. My personal favorite is the Rigatoni Bolognese. This is a recipe of slowly cooked meat sauce with a touch of sherry wine, cream and parmesan cheese. The ratio of sauce to pasta is spot on, and the sauce is creamy and clings to the rigatoni deliriously. Azul has a happy hour from 11am – 6pm daily. Azul also has a special event room, and provides catering.
The staff at Azul is very attentive and professional. As a regular, I need not say a word and a Pinot Grigio appears at our table. Every person I have taken to this restaurant has been treated like a gem.
Overall, I believe readers you should give this little hidden secret a try, I look forward to your feedback.
